Morwenna Hancock wanted a logo that represented her business and her own personal aesthetic: crisp, clear and yet still natural.
LOGO: MARGAREE WALKING TOURS
Hannah MacDonald wanted a logo that was eye-catching, modern and yet also handmade for her business Margaree Walking Tours. I ended up creating four versions for her.
PENCIL ILLUSTRATION: CELTIC COLOURS/ART NOUVEAU MASH-UP
One of my assignments in my Graphic Design course at NSCC was to create an illustration in a classic style (I chose Art Nouveau), but for a modern event. (I chose the Celtic Colours Festival Club.) This piece is 18″ x 24″.
POSTERS: CARMEL MIKOL
Carmel is a singer-songwriter who I’ve known since we were little girls. I love Carmel’s voice, both what she writes about and the melodies she sings. She’s had me create a couple of posters for her, as well as business cards.
About working with me, Carmel says: “Leah is a breeze to work with. She has an eye for detail and a clean, practical design sensibility. She communicates promptly and delivers every project on time or ahead of schedule.”
HAND LETTERING: WE ARE AN ISLAND
I love hand-lettering! This is a project from school where I tried my hand at it. I chose lyrics from a song by Kenzie MacNeil, and used the shape of Cape Breton Island to contain the words. Just click on the thumbnails of the images to see them bigger.
BROCHURE: CAPE BRETON REGIONAL LIBRARY
I created a brochure for the Cape Breton Regional Library system, to be given to educators to teach them about a special library card just for them. The look and feel had to match the current library branding, and fit a great deal of information, yet still have a balanced and spacious feel to it.
